Genevieve Carpenter, 85, of Keene Street, Stoneham, MA died Thursday December 12, 2002 at the Lahey Clinic, Burlington, MA following a brief illness. She was born on July 23, 1917 in Northfield, MA, a daughter of the late John and Mary Skibb. She was a resident of Stoneham, MA for 57 years, formerly of Derry, NH. She was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Derry, NH, Class of 1934. She attended the Museum of Fine Arts School, Boston, MA. She served as art director for Stoneham Public Library for 15 years. She entered many water color and pastel paintings in art contests and exhibits. She also taught art privately from her home.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years Edward H. Carpenter, Stoneham, MA, one son, Bruce C. Carpenter, Holderness, NH, one daughter, Elizabeth Carpenter Tice, Andover, MA, three grandchildren, Alexandra S. Tice, Andover, MA, Lauren E. Carpenter, Craig E. Carpenter, both of Holderness, NH and two nieces.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 17, 2002 at 10:00am at the First Parish Congregational Church, Hampstead Road, East Derry, NH. Burial will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry. Friends may call at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry on Monday from 3 –5 pm.
