Obituary

Virginia A. (Cavanaugh) Hanley, 92 of Franklin died August 14 in Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Hanley who died in 1994.
Born in Boston, October 25, 1914 the daughter of the late John and Susan (Prior) Cavanaugh, Mrs. Hanley had lived in Franklin since 1963.
Mrs. Hanley had worked in the cafeteria at Dean College and had been a Senior Companion for Tri Valley Elders Association. She received the Silver Dove Award for her volunteering for that organization.
An active member of St.Mary’s Church, she enjoyed reading and gardening.
She is survived by her children, John P. Hanley of Seabrook N.H., Theresa A. Shea of East Harwich, Matthew Hanley of Stoughton, Marie T. Carmichael of Stoughton, Peter G. Hanley of Milford, Kevin P. Hanley of Medway and Christopher A. Hanley, Margaret “Margy” Parquette and Kathleen J. Bilotta, all of Franklin. She was the mother of the late Joseph and Paul Hanley.
She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Her funeral will be held on Friday August 17 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin 131 Main St., Franklin at 8:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 9:00 a.m.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to St. Mary’s Church, Church Square, Franklin MA 02038.
