Worcester—James “Jim” Melikian, 84, died Monday, August 13, 2007, in Saint Vincent Hospital. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth (Simonian) Melikian; two daughters, Joyce I. Melikian of Chelmsford and Jean A. Lyons and her husband Thomas of Wakefield; two granddaughters, Sarah and Maura Lyons of Wakefield; and several nieces & nephews. Jim was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers. He was born in Worcester, son of Hachig and Agavni (Tashjian) Melikian. Jim was a graduate of Classical High School and graduated Magna cum Laude from Clark University with a degree in Business Administration. He was an accountant and business manager for the Raytheon Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1987. Following his retirement, he served as a volunteer for the AARP and enjoyed oil painting. Jim was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour.
Funeral Services, under the direction of Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, will be held Thursday, August 16, 12 o’clock noon at the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
