
James F. Scanzillo Jr.

HOLLAND, MI - James F. Scanzillo Jr., age 55, a former Tewksbury resident, died unexpectedly
Monday, Aug. 13, at the Holland Hospital. He was the husband of Deborah L. (Tucker)
Scanzillo.
He was born in Boston on June 14, 1952, a son of James and Margaret (Halloran) Scanzillo of
Cape Coral, Florida. He was raised in Tewksbury, and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial
High School with the Class of 1971. He went on to graduate Northeastern University, and
furthered his education at the N.Y. School of Dog Grooming, West Virginia Canine College, and
Cornell University’s Canine Study school.
He founded the Companion School for Dogs in 1977, which he has owned and operated for the
past 30 years, based in Holland, Michigan for the past 20 years.
During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Air Force.
Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by a son, James F. Scanzillo III of Tewksbury; two
sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen Morgan and her husband Gary of Billerica, Margaret “Pegie”
Ayotte and her husband Michael of Wells, ME; a brother and sister-in-law, John “Jack” Scanzillo
and his wife Kim (Corbett) of Chester, NH; aunts and uncles Thomas and Cathy Halloran of
Charlestown, MA, and Anna Scalli of FL; nieces and nephews, Cheryl Morgan and Tammy
Morgan-Coward of Westford, Shawna Morgan-O’Connor of VA, Shauna, Ashlie and Michael
Ayotte all of Wells, ME, John Thomas “Jack” Scanzillo of So. Boston, who was also his Godson;
and many cousins.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, Aug. 18, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Memorials to the American Heart Asson, 20 Speen St.,
Framingham, MA 01701 will be appreciated.
