Obituary

Joan S. (Silva) Clough, 71, of Westport, died at home August 13, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Robert W. Clough.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John F. and Winifred A. (Brightman) Silva, she lived in Fairhaven most of her life before moving to Westport six years ago.
Mrs. Clough was formerly employed as a registered nurse for 45 years.
She was active in the Relay for Life and was named "Survivor of the Year" in 2005. She was the first female president of the Fairhaven Gridiron Club. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband; four children, John Clough and his wife Cheryl of Yukon, Oklahoma, Abbie Cregan, and Daniel Clough and his wife Jane, all of Fairhaven, and Christopher Clough and his wife Kathy of New Bedford, a sister, Patricia Correia of New Bedford; 11 grandchildren; two aunts, Harriet Paul and Marie Oliver, both of New Bedford; a special young lady, Ashleigh Guilbeault; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 10 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
