Rita (Rezendes) Labonte, 76, of Wareham, formerly of New Bedford, died Sunday August 12, 2007 suddenly at home.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Manuel S. and Maria G. (Oliveira) Rezendes, she lived in New Bedford most of her life until moving to Wareham four years ago.
Mrs. Labonte was formerly employed as a bookkeeper for Claremont Company for 30 years until her retirement.
She could be found at all the sporting events of her grandchildren.
Survivors include three children, Jo-Ann Taylor of Dartmouth, Stephen Labonte and his wife Karyn of New Bedford, and Brett Labonte and his wife Mary of Wareham; her former husband, Arthur Labonte of New Bedford; a brother, James Rezendes of Nevada; a sister, Irene Novia of Connecticut; six grandchildren, Kevin, Stacy, Derek, Lindsey, Brett, and Michael; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late David Rezendes, Norman Rezendes, and Pauline Smola.
Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday morning from 10-11 AM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
