Obituary

BROOKFIELD: Wilfred E. Dubey,87, of 4 5th. Street, died Sunday, Aug. 12 at
St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 40 years, Ada M. (Leeman) Dubey, three sons Glen Dubey
of Florida, Stephen Dubey of Hawaii and Craig Dubey of Cherry Valley section
of Leicester, a daughter Sherry J. Grouf of Spencer, a sister Doris B.
Symonowicz of Leicester, two step daughters Janice Kemple and Sue Moody ,
and a step son James Kemple all in Calif., two grandchildren Jaime and
Matthew Grouf. He is predeceased by brothers Albert, Leon, Francis and
George Dube and a sister Evelyn Lavassa.
Mr. Dubey was a cook for 30 years at the Veterans Administration Hospital in
Newington, Ct. before retiring in 1976. At onetime, he also worked at the
former Rutland (Ma.) V.A. Hospital.
He was born in No.Brookfield, the son of Edwin and Myrtle A. (Tolman) Dube
and was raised in Leicester, graduating from Leicester High School. In his
youth, he played Minor League Baseball as a pitcher.
Will served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII serving on the USS
Portland. He was a founding member of the American Legion Post 443 in Cherry
Valley. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, camping and golf. The family wishes to
thank Jan Berthiaume and also the Visiting Nurses of Southern Worcester
County for their exceptional care.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. in the
J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Burial will
follow with Military Honors in Brookfield Cemetery, Brookfield. Calling
hours are Tuesday, Aug. 14 from 5 to 7p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions
may be made to Leicester Little League Assoc., c/o L. Spaulding, P.O. Box
393, Leicester, 01524.
