
LEICESTER: Alfred M. Symonowicz,80, of 22 Pine St., died Saturday, Aug. 11
at Quaboag on the Common in W.Brookfield.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Doris B. (Dube) Symonowicz, a son Alan M.
Symonowicz and his wife Maureen of Leicester, two daughters Michele M.
Houston of SanDiego, Calif, and Diane D. Griffin and her husband William T.
Griffin, Jr. of New Braintree, two brothers Michael Symonowicz of Jaffrey,
N.H., and William Symonowicz of W.Boylston, four grand children Alison
Symonowicz of Hubbardston, Charles J. Houston, IV of Nashua, N.H., William
T. Griffin, III and Whitney A. Griffin both of New Braintree, several nieces
and nephews. He is predeceased by a son Mark S. Symonowicz of Hubbardston in
2003, and eight brothers and sisters.
Mr. Symonowicz was co-owner of Sexton Associates in Shrewsbury where he
worked for 30 years, prior to his retirement in 1988.
Born in Charlton, he was the son of Boleslaw and Gladys (Zaleski)
Symonowicz. He then graduated from the former Commerce High and later
attended Clark University both in Worcester.
Al served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of the
Rochdale V.F.W. Post 7556 and the American Legion Post 443 in Cherry Valley.
He was former Chairman of the Leicester Housing Authority, member and past
president of the Friends of the Elders, Leicester Senior Citizen Center (New
Building Committee), Senior Citizen Club of Leicester, former Chairman of
the Democratic Town Committee and longtime member of St. Pius X Church.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 14 from the MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL
HOME, 1131 Main St.,Leicester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church,
1153 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Pine
Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, Aug. 13 from 5 to 7p.m. Memorial
