Obituary

FRANKLIN - John A. Saster, 77, of Franklin died unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at Milford Regional Medical Center.

He was the husband of Jean E. (Terpstra) Saster for 53 years.

Born in Franklin, a son of the late Frank and Florence (Nasuti) Saster, he was raised and educated in Franklin and remained a lifelong town resident.

He was a retired truck driver, having worked many years for the former Pondville Hospital in Norfolk.

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged in November 1953.

He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and a former member of the former Moose Lodge in Franklin.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Carol A. Baker, R.N., of East Bridgewater; two brothers, Joseph Saster of East Douglas and Fred "Butch" Saster of Franklin; three sisters, Rose Crothers of Wrentham, Lucy Molloy and Mary Cheli of Franklin; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was also the brother of the late Anthony Saster.

The funeral will be held, with military honors, Monday, Aug. 13, at 11:30 a.m., with a funeral service in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home (franklinfuneral.com), 33 Cottage St.

Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Franklin.

Calling hours will be Sunday, Aug. 12, from 2 to 6 p.m.
