Bridget A. (Whelan) Hanlon, 98, passed away at the Winchester Hospital on August 8th , 2007 after a brief illness. She was born and raised in Newfoundland, Canada and moved to Somerville during her early adult years. She has been a resident of Medford since 1948. Bridget has been a faithful parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Medford for nearly 60 years. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality and was an active participant at many functions held at the church over the years. Bridget was a homemaker who lived for her family, enjoying much time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the wife of the late Raymond Hanlon; the mother of Madeline Cunniff of West Peabody and Raymond Hanlon of Watertown; the grandmother of Raymond, Jennifer and Joseph Hanlon and John and Matthew Cunniff and the great grandmother of Kayla, Nicholas, Natalie and Grace Hanlon. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford on Monday August 13th at 10 AM followed by interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
