Josephine A. Meagher, age 99, a life-long resident of Woburn, died August 9th following a short illness. Born in Woburn she was the daughter of the late Michael J. and Mary I. (McDonald) Meagher.
Josephine was a retired school teacher from the Medford Public Schools Dept. where she taught for over forty years. Josephine was an avid reader and enjoyed reading biographies. Over the years she also enjoyed gardening, traveling and arts and crafts. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Sisters of Notre Dame International Missions CMO 30 Jeffreys Neck Rd. Ipswich, MA 01938.
In addition to her parents, Josephine is predeceased by her sister Beatrice Meagher, and brothers, Walter and William Meagher. She is survived by her sister, Mary Sawyer of Ft. Myers, FL. She is also survived by her nephew, John Meagher of Brockton, and nieces, Marjorie Sasso of So. Yarmouth, Alice Price of York, ME and Patricia Schruender of No. Andover. She is further survived by her loving cousin, Sr. Janet Deaett SND of Lowell.
Her funeral will be from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Tuesday, August 14th, at 10:30 a.m. followed by funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church 100 Washington St. Woburn, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m to 10:30 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
