Obituary

GLOUCESTER: James A. Fraser, 59, of 20 Wolf Hill Road, died Thursday, August 9, 2007, at his residence following an extended illness. He was the husband of Judith A. (Sprague) Fraser.
Born in Lakeland, Florida on March 22, 1948, he was the son of the late Wilbur T. and Evelyn J. (Womble) Fraser. He moved to Gloucester as a young child and was a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1966.
A veteran of the Vietnam Era, he served as a U.S. Army Specialist in Korea and was honorably discharged in January of 1970. He was a member of the Capt. Lester S. Wass Post #3, American Legion.
Upon his return from Korea, Jim was employed in restaurant management, having worked in various capacities at the Gloucester House for many years. He later became the co-owner of Farina’s Restaurant on Washington Street.
Over the last twenty years, he was employed in the automotive sales industry. He most recently was the internet sales manager for the Kelly Automotive Group in Beverly.
A huge Bruce Springsteen fan, he traveled throughout the country to attend concerts. As a musician, he enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with family and friends. He was also an avid card player and enjoyed camping, fishing and canoeing. A loving and devoted husband, father and brother, he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife of twenty-seven years, he is survived by a daughter, Megan S. Fraser of Salt Lake City, UT, a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Kathleen Fraser of Peabody, a sister, Michelene Hart of OH, his mother-in-law, Doris Sprague, a brother-in-law, David, husband of Arlene Sprague all of TN and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
His memorial service will be held next Saturday, August 18th, in the First Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
