Fall River – Richard D. Dietzman, 59, of Westport, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at St. Anne’s Hospital after a 2 ½ year valiant battle with mantle cell lymphoma. He was the husband of Patricia (Moore) Dietzman.
Born in Buffalo, NY, son of Donald R. and Donna J. (Smith) Deitzman of Alden, NY, he had lived in Westport for the last 12 years. He was vice president / regional manager of E.F.I. Global, Inc., Fall River and was an investigator with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department for 22 years, where he served as union president. He served his country in the United States Air Force. An avid boater and fisherman, he was the former president of the Westport Holy Ghost Club and was a former director of the Westport Babe Ruth League for many years. Mr. Dietzmen had an enormous circle of friends and was loved by all who knew him, but his greatest joy was spending time with his children.
Including his parents and widow, he is survived by 3 sons: Jason E. Dietzman and his wife Amanda of Hawaii, Adam J. Dietzman of Westport and Joshua D. Dietzman of Westport; a daughter: Christina L. Dietzman of Rochester, NY; a brother: Douglas Deitzman of Grand Island, NY; several grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife: Sharon Dietzman.
He was brother of the late Terry Molnar.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the Potter Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M.
Calling hours were held Sunday 7 - 9 P.M & Monday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 P.M. at the Charles Meyer Funeral Home Inc, 13228 Broadway St, Alden, New York 14004.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church, Alden NY at 11:00 A.M.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard’s memory for college scholarships for his boys may be made c/o St. Anne’s Credit Union, 517B State Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02747.
