Frederick R. Goodridge - 85, former Deputy Boston City Auditor, of Pittsford, NY, a longtime resident of Needham, died on August 7, 2007.
Beloved husband of the late Julia (Boss) Goodridge. Devoted father of Frederick, Jr., of Westwood, Jean Spoth of Palmer, AK, Laura Azzara, of Rye Brook, NY and Carol Harrington of Pittsford, NY. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A native of Plainfield, VT, Mr. Goodridge served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II, and spent an additional 20 years in the Naval Reserve. He received a B.A. in 1947 from Middlebury College and an M.B.A in Finance from Cornell University in 1949. Mr. Goodridge held financial executive positions in New York at Union Bag Co. and Squibb-Beech Nut Co., where he was Comptroller of Beech-Nut Life Savers. He also served as Comptroller of Boss-Linco Trucking in Buffalo, New York. In the 1980’s, Mr. Goodridge was for a time Deputy Auditor of the City of Boston in the administration of Mayor Kevin White. He also taught finance and accounting at Framingham State College. Mr. Goodridge and his wife, the late Julia lived in Needham for 20 years and were parishioners at St. Bartholomew Church. Mrs. Goodridge was for many years an executive assistant at Shawmut Bank in Boston.
