New Bedford – Maitland F. Baker, 92, of Westport, passed away Wednesday, August 08, 2007 at New Bedford Health Care Center after a long illness. He was the husband of Germaine O. “Gerrie” (Brabant) Baker.
Born in Brewer, ME, son of the late Russell and Winifred (Sargeant) Baker, he had lived in Westport for the last 40 years. A veteran of WWII and the Vietnam War, he served his country in the United States Navy. Prior to retirement, Mr. Baker was chief of security at St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford. He was a member of the American Legion Post 145, Westport.
Including his wife, he is survived by a son: Russell Baker of York, ME; 2 daughters: Mavis Hackney of VT and Sheryl Mower of MT; a sister: Honora Geary of ME; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was father of the late Jeffrey Baker.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
