Ruth L. (Farnham) (Philbrick) Stafford 84, died August 7th in her home, after a period of failing health.
Born in Malden, raised in Norwood, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Ethel (Sumner) Farnham.
She was a graduate of Norwood High School.
During war time Ruth was a Book Binder for the Pilgrim Press Company in Plympton. She also worked as a clerk for Fernandes Supermarkets and was a union musician.
She enjoyed knitting and being with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Raymond E. Stafford, SR. of Whitman; her children, Russell “Rusty“Philbrick of Shelbourne VT. ,Raymond Stafford ,William Stafford, both of Whitman, Thomas Stafford of Taunton, Barbara Pike of Carver , Judith Allen of East Bridgewater and Sandra Wheeler of Waterford, CT. ;her sister , Ethel Leonard of Fl.; also 16 grandchildren,22 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Her services will be held on Saturday August 11th at 10:00 A.M. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street, (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held on Friday August 10th 3-7 PM. Donations may be made to Old Colony Hospice One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA. 02368.
