Obituary

Manuel S. “Meno” Correia age 89 of 26 Cedar Cove Lane, Swansea formerly of Fall River passed away peacefully on Sunday August 5, 2007 at the Catholic Memorial Home in Fall River, due to complications from a recent accident. He was husband of Belmira T. Correia. Born in Fall River, he was son of the late Joseph and Marianna (Arruda) Correia. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II. Mr. Correia received the World War II Victory Medal, the Army Occupation Medal & the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal. He was the Owner & Operator of North End Vending until his retirement in 1980 but still worked part-time with his late son-in-law Paul De Coste in the business for many years later. He also worked as a weaver in the Cotton Mill Industry. He was a semi-pro soccer player and played on various teams in the Fall River area, also was an avid Thoroughbred Horse racing enthusiast and enjoyed playing cards. He loved animals and had a special affection for his pet cats. He was a member of the Liberal Club, St.John’s Club, Alfonso Costa Republican Club & the Bayview Club.

He leaves his beloved daughter Helen De Coste of Fall River, his Grandson Paul De Coste, Jr. and his wife Susan from Somerset, two Great Grandsons Kyle & Drew & long time companion Dorothy Cabral of Swansea. One sister Florence Miska of Florida. He was also brother of the late Antone, Frank, John, Joseph, and Manuel Correia, Theresa Moss, Mary Sousa and several nieces and nephews

His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home,1521 N. Main St. on Thursday at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 10:00 AM. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Forever Paws Animal Shelter, 300 Lynwood St., Fall River, MA 02721.
