DOROTHY BREED
GROTON- Dorothy Emily Breed, 91, of 656 Groton Long Point Road, Noank, passed away Saturday at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
Miss Breed was born in Norwich on May 9, 1916 the daughter of Edward A. and Jessie (Norman) Breed. She was a 1934 graduate of Fitch High School and a 1939 graduate of The New London Business College.
She was employed at the former Union Bank in New London before accepting a position as Secretary to the Supts. of Schools for the Groton Board of Education where she was employed for 38 years before her retirement in 1979.
She was a longtime member of the First Church of Christ Congregational, Groton. She was also a member of the Anna Warner Bailey Chapter, Daughters of the American Rvolution, the Avery Association, Groton Senior Citizens, and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Miss Breed is survived by her nephew, Henry N. Breed of Groton and Largo, FL, her niece, Janice H. McDermott of Amherst, NH; 5 grandnieces and nephews, and 4 great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Norman H. Breed and Edward A. Breed.
Her family will gather for a private service. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic. Donations in her memory may be made to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, P.O. Box 96173, Washington DC, 20077 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
