Florence C. Lassiter, age 88, died on Wednesday November 28, 2001 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford after a lengthy illness. She was born in Cambridge on March 22, 1913 to the late Edward L. and Mildred E. (Young) Clayton. She is the beloved wife of the late James H. Lassiter.
She attended the Cambridge School System before becoming a Medford resident in 1932. She was employed by Stolco Bag & Burlap Co. for many years.
Flo and her husband Jimmy were hard workers at the "Powers" Print Shop in West Medford Square that they owned for many years as well. Flo received many rewards for her outstanding work she did for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). She enjoyed traveling and took many cruises with the VFW. Flo enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden that she had planted every year. At 3:00PM everyday, birds, squirrels, and pigeons would flock in her backyard where Florence would feed them religiously. Florence also enjoyed sports, particularly baseball.
Until just a few months ago, Florence was in excellent health and enjoyed living life to its fullest amongst family and friends.
She leaves to mourn her only Nephew, Edward L. "Buddy" Clayton. Loving sister-in-law of Lawrence Lassiter and his wife Ruth of Florida and Nancy and her husband Chester Works of Texas. Aunt of Christine Nays of Medford. She is the cherished sister of the late Mildred E. Eastmond, Antoinette S. Sanders, and Henrietta "Toodles" Merriman, and Walter Jaspur. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a host of friends.
Flo's charm and selflessness love for her late husband will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence's memory may be made to the charity of ones choice.
