SALEM - Ruth R. Finniss, age 91, of Salem, formerly of Swampscott, beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother, died Tuesday evening, July 31, 2007 in Salem Hospital. She was the wife of the late R. Marshall Finnis, whom she married on April 2, 1938.
Born in Beverly on Nov. 21, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Paul & Ora (Tellardin) Bonito.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Clark & Pat Finniss of Swampscott, her daughter & son-in-law, Claire & Jim Bingham, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Hilda Burgoyne. Mrs. Finniss was a resident of Swampscott for over 65 years before moving to Salem 2 years ago.
Ruth used her God-given, artistic talents to the utmost. She designed and manufactured a line of girl’s sportswear under the label So-Fine, which fast rose to the top in popularity in such stores as Lord & Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue, and hundreds of high end specialty shops across the nation. She demanded the most of herself and those around her, but never lost her sense of humor & wit. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her, but we can pass into the arms of Jesus knowing that we will be reunited in the near future. We will give thanks to the Lord with all out heart, We will tell of thy wonders, We will be glad and exalt in Thee, We will sing praise to thy name O Most High. Ps 9:1,2. For our mother, Ruth Finniss
