Obituary




Thomaida “Thelma” (Drossos) Milonas, died Friday August 3rd in Falmouth after a period of failing health. She was 101, and the beloved wife of the late Basil Milonas.

Born in Greece May 15, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Maria Drossos.

Mrs. Milonas resided in Whitman for 79 years and was an active member of the community there. She was member of the Whitman Women’s Club, and the Whitman Senior Citizens participating in their Tuesday Knitting Group.

She was also a member of the Pythian Sisters, Daughters of Penelope and the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society. She was an active member of her Church in Brockton.

She received several citations for the sale of thousands of “War Bonds” during World War II.

She is survived by her daughter Dorothea Kostas of Falmouth and her two grandsons, Steve Kostas of Falmouth and Gregory Kostas of Whitman and 6 great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Stergios Milonas.

Her funeral service will be Wednesday August 8th at 8:45 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rte 58 @ the Rotary Circle) Whitman, follow by a service @ 10:00 AM in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Oak Street, Brockton. The Rev. John Kiramarios will officiate. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday August 7th from 4:00-8:00 PM.
