Fall River – Rudolph P. “Sonny” Carreiro, 78, of Westport, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, August 04, 2007 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Lillian E. (Souza) Carreiro.
Born in Westport, a son of the late Manuel and Adeline (Texeira) Carreiro, he was a lifelong resident of Westport. Mr. Carreiro was a self employed dairy farmer and was also the owner / operator of J.A.K. Bus Company of Westport and Westport Rubbish Disposal of Westport. He was a Communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport and a member of the Sodom Road Holy Ghost Club Society.
Including his wife, he is survived by 2 sons: Robert A. Gonsalves of Dartmouth and Steven P. Carreiro of Westport; 2 daughters: Lillian M. Pierce of Westport and June A. DeAndrade of Westport; 11 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was brother of the late Gertrude Souza, Laura Rocha, Manuel Carreiro, Jilbert Carreiro and Delor Carreiro.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, August 7, 2007 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Monday 4 – 8 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
