Richard C. Fields, 57, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, August 3, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 11A.M., Monday, August 6, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Clayton Dowd and Rev. Emory Champion officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Fields was born November 2, 1949, in Fayette, Alabama, to John W. and Rachel Jenkins Fields, moving to Fitzgerald in 1960. He was medical transporter and a former employee of Pioneer Housing. Mr. Fields was a loving father and grandfather who was a Christian and a member of the Assembly Of God.
He is survived by a son, Michael D. Fields of Fitzgerald; parents, John W. & Rachel M. Fields of Fitzgerald; stepchildren, Bo Medlin of Fitzgerald, Wesley Medlin of Pavo, Edward Hutto of Claxton, Robert Medlin of Moultrie and Martha Giffin of Irwin County; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Dale Fields, Beverly Martin, Elaine Hutto, Karen Baker, Samuel Fields and Rose Grimes all of Fitzgerald as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ross Fields.
