WORCESTER-Nancy A. (Dowd) Mias, 75, of Worcester, died Friday, August 3rd in Parson’s Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Her husband of 53 years, Dennis W. Mias, died June 11th. She leaves 3 sons, James and his wife Robin Mias of Northampton, Jack and his wife Nancy Mias and Jeffrey and his wife Lynne Mias all of Worcester; 2 daughters, Jody Lovely of Worcester and Julie and her husband John Parenteau of Spencer; 2 sisters, Mary Paduch of Somers, CT and Chris Toloczko of Worcester; 11 grandchildren, Lisa, Seth, Maggie, Bridget, Jessica, Brian, Alycia, Timothy, Brandon, Erin and Paige; and many nephews and nieces. 2 brothers, Jack and Ted Dowd predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Timothy and Nora (Slattery) Dowd. Mrs. Mias attended Ascension Grammar School and was a 1949 graduate of Ascension High School. She was an active member of Our Lady of the Angels Church where she served as a bell ringer, organized many trips and outings and was a member of its Women’s Guild and Mothers Club. Mrs. Mias was an avid bingo player and enjoyed the casino, playing cards with her friends and day trips throughout New England. In her later years, she had more extravagant travel destinations including Nova Scotia, Florida, a cross country excursion and finally Ireland. However, her family and friends were her foremost enjoyment. Corny as it may sound, Nancy’s goals in life were a cedar chest, marriage, 5 children and a simple, good life. She did it!
