Obituary

Leo C. LeBlanc, 85, of Farnum Pike, North Smithfield, died Thursday at Hebert Nursing Home in Smithfield. He was the husband of Rita E. (Mainville) LeBlanc.
Born in Blackstone, he was a son of the late Henry and Clarinda (Fontaine) LeBlanc. Mr. LeBlanc resided in North Smithfield for over 40 years.
Prior to WWII, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.
During WWII, Mr. LeBlanc served in the U.S. Navy, and was awarded the Victory Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon.
Mr. LeBlanc worked as a corrections officer at the ACI in Cranston for many years before retiring in 1978.
He enjoyed bowling and gardening. He was a member of the “Smokey Squares” square dancing club, a hobby both he and his wife enjoyed.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Loretta LaPlume.
His funeral service will be Monday at 10:30 am in the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St., Woonsocket. Burial with military honors will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Slatersville.
