JOHN J. WHITE
John J. White, age 81, died Sunday July 29, 2007 at the Bostonian Nursing and rehabilitation Center in Dorchester, MA. Born and raised in Ireland, Mr. White came to this country as a young man and has been a resident of the Neponset section of Dorchester for many years. He was a retired employee of Filene's Dept. Store in Boston having worked there as an electrtician for almost 30 yaers. Mr. White was extremely proud of his Irish heritage and was also very civic minded. He was an active member of the Pope's Hill Neighborhood Assocition as well as the Castle Island Association and the Knights and Ladies of St. Finbarr.
John was the husband of the late Mary M. (Murray) White who passed away in 1988. He was the devoted father of Elizabeth M. Smiddy and her husband Paul of Holbrook, Sheila O'Malley and her husband John of Chicago and Richard J. White of Dorchester. He was the Grandfather of Matthew, Michael and Timothy. John was also the brother of William White and his wife Josie of Ireland, Teresa Sweeney and Peggy Guinan also of Ireland and the brother in law of the late James Sweeney and James Guinan.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday Aug. 2, 2007 in St. Ann's Church, Neponset followed by interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. Relatives and friends are invited to attended Visiting Hours in the O'Donnell & Mulry Funeral Home, 138 Neponset Ave. Dorchester on Wednesday from 4 - 8 P.M..
