Paul J. Lacey of Malden and a former resident of Melrose for 20 years, died on Sunday, July 29, 2007, at the Harborside Health Care Nursing Home in Wakefield following an extended illness. He was 84 years old.
Paul was born in Medford on September 23, 1922. He grew up in Malden, where he attended Malden Public Schools and graduated from Malden High School in 1941. He enlisted into the United States Army on December 21, 1942. He served during World War II and was discharged as a Private First Class on October 16, 1945. He worked for several plastic companies in the area until he became employed by Crown Plastic Company of Boston and worked there as a manufacturer for over 20 years. He retired in 1987.
Paul is the beloved husband of the late Esther V. (Burgess) Lacey. He is the devoted father of Paul R. Lacey of Stoneham, A. Daniel Lacey of Las Vegas, Nevada, William J. Lacey and Patricia A. Clarkson both of Everett, Steven M. Lacey of Malden, Kathleen A. Durfee of North Carolina, Christopher R. Lacey of Salem, Nancy L. Bradley and David R. Lacey both of Michigan and the late Susan D. Loder. He is the loving "Gar" of 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of Stanley Lacey of Vermont, Alice Iaconno of Florida, Louise Angelli of New Hampshire, Marguerite Minkle of Malden, Kathleen Richardson of Kentucky and the late Muriel Pini.
Paul's Funeral Service will be held on Friday August 3, 2007, at 11 a.m. in The First Baptist Church of Malden, 493 Main Street, Malden. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Paul will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2007, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Melrose, at Wakefield line. Cremation will take place following his service.
