Obituary

Albert L. Filteau, 78, of Pearl St., Derry, NH, died Sunday, December 8, 2002, at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry. He was born in Manchester, NH on February 6, 1924, a son of the late Alcide and Anna Filteau. He was a resident of Derry for over 50 years, formerly living in Manchester. He was a US Navy WWII Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion, Lester Chase Post #9 of Derry, the VFW Post #1617 in Derry, and the DAV Nashua Chapter. Mr. Filteau owned and operated Filteau’s Jewelers in Derry with his wife for 41 years, retiring in 1990. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club, Derry. He was also a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Derry and was a Fourth Degree in Salem. Mr. Filteau was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Derry.

He is survived by his wife, Cecile M. (Gregoire) Filteau, Derry, one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Sheryl) Desrochers, Bedford, two grandsons, Mark Desrochers, Lee, NH, Chad Desrochers, Mount Pleasant, SC, one great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Desrochers, Lee, three sisters, Theresa Godbout, Anita Frasier, both of Manchester, Marcelle DeGrandmaison, of Norfolk, Ark., three brothers, Roger Filteau, Goffstown, Roland Filteau, Manchester, Emile Filteau, Goffstown, many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday December 11th at 11:30am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Crystal Avenue, Derry. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Manchester. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, NH Affiliate, 20 Merrimack Street, Suite 1, Manchester, NH 03101-2244.
