Obituary

CHARLTON___Earl E. Smith, 69, of Charlton, died Thursday July 26 in his home.

He leaves his wife of 46 years, Karen L. (Prunier) Smith, a son, Gregory A. Smith, a Harvard graduate, and his wife Karen O’Neil of Yarmouthport; two brothers, Robert D. Smith and his wife Barbara and Raymond Smith and his wife Maryanne, all of Millbury; a sister, Nancy Puretta and her husband Benny of Shrewsbury; two grandchildren, Alisa McDonald and Ryan Bisceglia and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his baby sister, Marjorie Rojcewicz. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Ernest and Celia (Smith) Smith and has lived in Charlton since 1967. He was a kind and gentle man, a loving father and coach to his son and a devoted husband to his wife. Above all else he enjoyed spending time with his family. As a younger man he was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1960. He also enjoyed motorcycles and collecting firearms.

Mr. Smith was a self employed truck driver several years before retiring in 1992. Previously he was a plasterer for J.S. Prunier & Sons and also worked for Norton Co, and Chicago Dressed Beef Co. Earl was a graduate of Commerce High School, Worcester.

The funeral will be held on Sunday August 5 at 10:00 a.m. in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, Worcester. Burial will be private. Calling hours in the funeral home are Saturday August 4 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
