Obituary

Sam D. DeFazio, 80 of Medway died July 27 in Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Assunta (Coroniti) DeFazio for the past 59 years.
Born in Needham, April 12, 1927 the son of the late Dominic and Irene (Paprazzo) DeFazio, Mr. DeFazio had lived in Medway since 1946.
Mr. DeFazio had been an attendant at Medfield State Hospital for 22 years before retiring in 1978.
He loved to care for his yard and garden.
Mr. DeFazio served in the Coast Guard during World War II attaining the rank of Stewards Mate First Class.
He was a member of the Medway American Legion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Irene Antonellis and her husband, Mark of Bellingham, Marie Kocak and her husband, Sitki of Lincolnville, Maine and Lorraine Demir of Medway.
He is also survived by his brothers, Joseph DeFazio of Tucson AZ, Dominic DeFazio Jr. of Milford and his sister, Catherine Venuto of Auburndale.
He was the brother of the late Frank DeFazio, Peter DeFazio and Marion Russo.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mark Antonellis Jr, Melissa Whitner, Suna Shaw, Nadya Kocak and Daniel Demir and his great-grandchildren, Riley, Karen, Aydan and Brady.
His funeral will be held on Monday July 30 from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St., Medway at 9:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Brendan’s Church in North Bellingham at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4-8.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association Box 3049 Syracuse, NY 13220.
