Smith R. Griffin, 92, of Dallas, Texas, died Monday, July 23, 2007 at Grace Presbyterian Village in Dallas, Texas.
Graveside services will be held 2 P.M., Friday, July 27, at Bethel Cemetery in Turner County, with Rev. Lance Kindred officiating.
Mr. Griffin was born March 29, 1915, in Quanah, Texas, to the late William Preston and Jeretta Smith Griffin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. Mr. Griffin was a career employee with the VA Hospital of Dallas, where he worked in the purchasing department until his retirement. He was a self-educated person who read voraciously, was an avid football fan who often had three games on television simultaneously and knew what was going on in each game.
Mr. Griffin is survived by several nieces and nephews, Jeretta Gilbert of Dallas, TX, Charles Eidson of Valdosta, Al Eidson of Kansas City, KS and Dona Eidson Gamble of Several grand-nieces and grand-nephews also survive him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Eidson Griffin.
