Obituary

Lester L. “Buddy” Spicer, 60, of Fitzgerald, died Wednesday, July 25 at his residence.

Funeral Mass will be held 3 P.M., Friday, July 27, at Saint William’s Catholic Church, with Father Dan O’Connell and Father Ted Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Spicer was born December 3, 1946, in Irwin County, to the late Lester H. and Mary Ruth Monk Spicer. He lived in the community all of his life, graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1965. Mr. Spicer served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War era. He was a retired lineman with Delphi Battery Plant. Mr. Spicer attended St. William’s Catholic Church. He was an avid drag racing fan.

Mr. Spicer is survived by his wife, Mary M. Spicer of Fitzgerald; daughter & son-in-law, Melissa K. & Albert Sirmans of Fitzgerald; son & daughter-in-law, David W. & Julie Spicer of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Allison Kay Sirmans and Travis Shinholster both of Fitzgerald; brothers & sisters-in-law, Ronnie & Christine Spicer, Robert & Wanda Spicer and Randy & Angela Spicer all of Fitzgerald; sisters & brothers-in-law, Ella Grace & Billy Williams of Macon, Betty Carver and Mary & Troy McDuffie all of Fitzgerald and Carolyn & Wendell Turner of TyTy.
