Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth Rebecca Mellian of Andover died at the Wingate at Andover Nursing center in Andover on July 27, 2007. She was 78 years old.
She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on July 17, 1929, the daughter of the late Avedis and Sadle (Hovagimian) Mellian. Elizabeth owned and operated the hair salon known as “The House of Mellian” in North Andover for more than ten years. She later owned and operated a bakery and worked for many years for her brother as The Merrimack Valley Motor Inn also located in North Andover. She was a graduate of the Johnston High School in North Andover, a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Lawrence and later became a life long member of St. Gregory’s Armenian Church in North Andover. She was a worthy Matron for the Order of the Eastern Starr in Lawrence and a longtime member of the Grange in West Boxford. She was an avid baseball and football fan and she enjoyed cryptographic and knitting. Her real true love was being of Armenian descent, which she was quick to tell people of wherever she traveled. She was also a volunteer at the North Andover Senior Center.
She is survived by her beloved brother, Harry and his wife Janice Mellian of North Hampton, New Hampshire.
Her funeral service was celebrated in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home 390 North Main Street, Andover, Friday, July 27, 2007, at 10:30 Am. Relatives and friends respectfully attended. Calling hours were Thursday, July 26, 2007, from 5 to 7 PM. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover.
