Obituary

Mrs. Peola Collier Cotton was born February 20, 1955 in Madison County Alabama to George and Dollie Collier. She departed this life at her home on Wednesday, July 25, 2007.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dollie M. Collier and one brother, Andrew Collier.

She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Acklin Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. She was a faithful member until her death.

She was united in holy matrimony on February 23, 1974 to James Cotton and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.

Peola was a loving and caring individual. She often thought of others before herself. She was one who was not quick to complain. She did not want you to worry about her. She was more focused on how you were than how she felt. Many times during her sickness she would simply state “I am ok.”

Those who cherish her loving and beautiful memories are devoted husband, James; one daughter, Dollie Betts (William) of Fort Eutis, Virginia; two sons: James Cotton, Jr. of Madison, Alabama and Cassius Cotton of Gurley, Alabama; a father, George M. Collier (Janie) of Berkley, Alabama; one granddaughter, Hannah; one grandson, Samuel; four brothers: Columbus Collier (Elizabeth), Carlos Collier, Larry Collier all of Berkley, Alabama and George Collier Jr. (Jackie) of Huntsville, Alabama; three sisters: Betty Johnson (Clyde), Mary Brazelton, both of Huntsville, Alabama and Ernestine Watkins (Elvis), all of Berkley Alabama; four sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cotton are will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2007 at the Acklin Chapel CME Church (Cobb Rd SE - Gurley, Alabama) with pastor Imogene Jackson-Rose officiating.
