Eileen F. (Alexander) Fernandes, 83, of Norton died on Thursday July 26, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Middleboro, MA. She was the beloved wife of the late John Fernandes.
Born in Taunton, MA on September 19, 1923 she was a dear daughter of the late Harry and Ella (Totten) Alexander.
She grew up in Taunton, was educated in Taunton schools and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Taunton.
Mrs. Fernandes was a retired Secretary of Engineering having worked at Texas Instruments in Attleboro for 40 years prior to retirement.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton Eileen enjoyed meticulously maintaining her yard and outdoor activities. She and her late husband John were avid travelers and her other hobbies included sewing, needlework and crafts. She had lived in Norton for over 45 years and was formerly of Taunton.
She was the dear sister of the late Harry Alexander and Robert Alexander. Also surviving are her loving nieces and nephews; Anne Alexander of Taunton, H. Scott Alexander of Pawtucket, R.I. and Robbyn Torres of Raynham and their families.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday July 30th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, South Worcester St., Norton. Burial will follow in the Norton Common Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday July 29th from 4-7 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Eileen’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to Aseracare Hospice 40 Washington St. Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
