Joseph P. Montalto, 86 of Medford, died Monday after a brief illness in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Medford, MA.
Born in Chelsea, he lived the past 4 years in Medford and formerly of Somerville. Joseph was the son of the late Jennie (Cammaratta) and Peter Montalto.
Joseph was a Chief Court Officer, with the Somerville District Court for 35 years and retired 20 years ago. He also was a former Aide in the Middlesex County DA’s Office under John Droney. Joseph was also a Foreman with the Merit, Chapman and Scott Construction Company during the construction of the Tobin Bridge.
Beloved husband of Vita M. (Rubino) Montalto. Devoted father of Peter N. Montalto of Medford. Brother of Peter Montalto, Jr. of Somerville, and the late William “Billy” Montalto, and Josephine Cirmia. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Friday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 10 AM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Visiting hours Thursday 4 thru 8.
Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
