Obituary

Michael S. Brennan, 62, of New Bedford died Friday December 6, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the companion of Muriel Barksdale of New Bedford.

Born in Acushnet, the son of the late Charles M. and Helena A. (Osenkowski) Brennan, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

Mr. Brennan was formerly employed by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Connecticut and Isotronics in New Bedford, until its closing.

Mr. Brennan was a graduate of New Bedford High School and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In his youth, he was an avid baseball player, having played for Burgess Motors Pony League Team, the Holy Name Church Team in the C.Y.O. League, the Hackers Team in the Greater New Bedford Baseball Junior League, and the New Bedford High School Freshman Baseball Team.

He was a member and secretary of Neighborhoods United/Hope 6, and was an active volunteer at the Caroline Apartments Community Center. In 2001, he was recognized by Mayor Frederick Kalisz for his involvement in the neighborhood crime watch program.

Survivors include his companion and her six children; a brother, Dennis M. Brennan and his wife Christine of New Bedford; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His Funeral Service will be held on Monday evening December 9, 2002 at 7:30 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-7:30 PM prior to the funeral service. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery will be private.
