Obituary

LOWELL—Mary Ellen Boutilier, 101 years old, a longtime resident of the Oaklands section of Lowell, died Sunday afternoon, July 22nd, at her home.

She was born in Lowell, on June 17, 1906, a daughter of the late Charles L. and Katherine J. (Tompkins) Boutilier. She was a graduate of Lowell High School, Lesley College, Boston University, Hunter College, and Columbia College, in New York.

Miss Boutilier served the Wilmington School System for over 20 years retiring as the Director of Reading. She was a lifelong communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and held membership in the Women’s Guild of that parish, the League of Catholic Women, the Mass. Retired Teachers Organization, and the National Society for Women in Education.

She is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many friends.

She was the sister of the late Charles L.E. Boutilier.

Friends may call from 8:30 to 9:30 AM on Thursday, July 26th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Her Funeral Mass to follow at 10 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell. Arrangements by Mahoney Funeral Home.
