WEBSTER - Stuart R. Buller, 85, formerly of Day St., died Sunday, July 22, in UMass/Memorial Healthcare, Worcester, after a brief illness.
He leaves a brother, Herbert Buller of Seattle, WA; a nephew, John Edward Buller of Kenmore, WA; several cousins; and his church family.
He was born in Webster, the son of Herbert and Marion (Fontaine) Buller, and was a lifelong resident. He moved to Oakwood Rehab and Nursing Center about 5 years ago. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1939.
Mr. Buller was first an inspector at the Webster Lens Company from 1939 to 1946 and again from 1952 to 1980, when he retired. From 1946 to 1952, he worked at Stevens Linen Associates in Dudley. He also worked at Maanexit Spinning Company for a short time.
He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Reconciliation. He was once a member of the church vestry; he was a lector at the church and a member of the choir for several years. He was a founding member of the Friendly Corner, where he volunteered weekly for over 25 years. He was a former member of the Sons of Legion Drum Corps as a bass drummer and also served as adjutant.
He was an expert at latch hooking; a large replica of Da Vinci’s “Last Supper” hangs in the church hall, and took over a year to complete. He also had an extensive music collection, and enjoyed reading.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 2, at 11:00 AM in the Church of the Reconciliation, 5 North Main Street. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Donations in his name may be made to the Church of the Reconciliation, 5 North Main St., Webster, MA 01570.
