Obituary

LEICESTER: Ivar J. Carlson, Jr., 73, of 12 Edward St., died Monday, July 23
at UMASS Memorial Hospital -119 Belmont St., Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Frances R. (Decaro) Carlson, two sons Ivar
F. Carlson of Oxford and David P. Carlson of Anthem, Az., two granddaughters
Stephanie J. and Melanie J. Carlson of Auburn, four brothers Richard S.
Carlson of Puyallop, Wa., Ronald J. Carlson of Yuma, Az., Nelson G. Carlson
of Wells, Me. and Roger A. Carlson of Kent, Wa., two sisters Linnea L.
Mazejka of Worcester and Margaret A. Souda of Shrewsbury, several nieces and
nephews including his uncle Axel Svensson in Sweden. He is predeceased by
two sisters Nancy D. Kielinen and Charlotte M. O'Shannon.
Mr. Carlson was a cabinet maker for Padco, Inc. in Worcester where he worked
for 10 years, retiring in 1996.
He once served in the U.S. Navy during peacetime. He was a member of St.
Pius X Church, and was an avid bowler having once won the Worcester City
Men's Bowling League Championship.
He enjoyed fabricating stain glass and at onetime many years ago, he was
the first to water ski on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of Ivar J. Carlson, Sr. and Linnea M.
(Svensson) Carlson. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School.
The funeral will be held Friday, July 27 from the MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL
HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church,
1153 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery,
Worcester. Calling hours are Thursday, July 26 from 4 to 7p.m.
