NASHUA, NH – John P. Schaefer, 61, of Nashua, NH, formerly of Dracut and Tyngsboro, died Sunday July 22nd at his home. He was the husband of Annette A. (Menard) Schaefer, to whom he was married for 36 years.
Born in Lowell on July 11, 1946, he was a son of Lee (Knight) Schaefer and the late John B. Schaefer. He received his education through the Dracut school system and graduated from Dracut High School in 1964. He also attended Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill.
Mr. Schaefer proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He also worked as an incoming inspector for Raytheon in Andover for 35 years.
He was a member of the IBEW #1505. He enjoyed baseball, especially cheering for the New York Yankees. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Schaefer is survived by a son John E. Schaefer of Nashua, a daughter Joanne Martin and her husband Michael of Dracut, two brothers Robert Schaefer and his wife Maureen of Dracut and Jeffrey Schaefer of Lowell, a sister Mary Lacourse and her husband Robert of Dracut, three grandchildren Andrew Martin, Jacob Martin, and Daniel Martin, a special aunt and godmother Shirley Schaefer of Lowell, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Wednesday from 4 until 8 PM. His Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 AM. Burial will follow in New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
