WEBSTER – Mary I. (Budnik) Champagne, 88, of 29 Slater Street, died Tuesday, July 17, at home. Her husband, Henry J. Champagne, died in 1970.
She leaves a brother, Edward Budnik of Spencer; a sister, Jean B. Piasta of Westborough; her caregivers, Edward, Dayle, Stephen and Sylwia Kohut, all of Webster. She was predeceased by 2 sisters, Helen and Josephine, and by 2 brothers, Stanley and Joseph.
She was born in Worcester and raised in Spencer, a daughter of the late Peter and Statia A. (Ruscik) Budnik, and moved here in 1974.
Mrs. Champagne was a stitcher at Kleven Shoe Factory in Spencer for many years before she retired. She was a member of Saint Joseph Basilica. She loved gardening and doing crossword puzzles.
The family would like to thank Elder Day Services of Southern Worcester County in Dudley for their compassionate care and concern for Mary.
The funeral and burial were private. Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, was in charge of the arrangements.
