Obituary

WORCESTER__ Michael W. Sabacinski, 83, of Worcester, died Sunday, July 22, in his home with his family. He leaves his wife of twenty years, Isabella (Cicero) Esper Sabacinski. His first wife, Albina E. (Skebas) Sabacinski died in 1984.
Mr. Sabacinski also leaves, two sons, Michael Sabacinski and his wife Lisa of Webster and Robert J. Sabacinski and his wife Elizabeth of Charlton; four daughters, Phyllis Callan and her husband Steven of Auburn, Paula Esper of Worcester, Linda Esper of Auburn and Maria Schramm and her husband, Richard of White River Junction, VT; three brothers, Anthony, Benjamin and Vincent Sabacinski, all of Worcester; two sisters Genevieve Yankus of North Carolina and Irene Johnson of Worcester; eleven grandchildren, one great grand son and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by three brothers, Walter, Joseph and John Sabacinski and a sister, Josephine Jakubowski. Michael was born in Worcester, son of Joseph and Marianna (Kasprzak) Sabacinski and lived in Worcester most of his life.
Mr. Sabacinski was a Postal Supervisor for the US Postal Service for twenty-six years before retiring in 1984. Previously, he worked at Wyman Gordon Company and Anderson Brisk Company. He served in the US Army Infantry during World War II in the European Theatre during the Battles of The Bulge and Normandy. Mike was a guard to the captured, General Von Rontedt and his staff in Düsseldorf, Germany. He received three bronze stars, the France Normandy Medal and a medal from the French Government. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. He attended St. Mary’s High School. Mike was also a member of the American Legion Post 318, the VFW-South Quinsigamond Post, the Disabled American Veterans, the Greendale Retired Mens’ Club and The Postal Supervisors Club. Mr. Sabacinski was the manager for the Tom Ash Little League, Auburn Minor League, and Wyman Gordon Boy Scouts. He was also an avid bowler and golfer.
A funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 25, from HENRY - DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.
