Obituary

VENICE, FL—Roger J. Lang, Jr., 84 years old, a resident of Venice, FL and Hampton, NH, died Wednesday December 4th, at the Brighton Gardens Community. He was the husband of Josephine (Hovasse) Lang and the late Ruth (Mulvey) Lang, who died in 1968.

He was born in Lowell, on September 2, 1918, a son of the late Roger J. and Katherine B. (Lowney) Lang and was a graduate of the Lowell Public School System and Lowell High School. He also attended Boston University.

Mr. Lang was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran. He had been employed as a Contracting Officer at Hanscom Air Force Base for over 25 years until his retirement.

Surviving him besides his wife are two sons and a daughter-in-law: Roger J. and Janet Lang, III, of Lowell; and George M. Lang, of Lowell; three grandchildren: Roger Jay, and his wife Lori Lang, Jonathan Lang and Jill Lang; twin great-grandsons: Connor and Timothy Lang; two step-sons: Brian Phillips, of Philadelphia, PA; and Harry Phillips, of Denver, CO; a brother: John Lang, of Lowell; a sister: Anita O’Brien, of Rockville, MD; also several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late William Lang.

A Memorial Mass will be offered in his memory on Saturday December 14th at 10 AM at St. Michael’s Church, Lowell, to which relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Lowell High School Scholarship Fund; c/o Gail Green; 50 French Street; Lowell, MA 01852. Private burial to be held at the convenience of the family.
