DRACUT-Claire P. (Charest) Shanahan, 85, a resident of Dracut, died on Monday, July 16th at D'Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell. She was the loving wife of the late Denis Shanahan who died in 1982.
She was born in Lowell on April 30, 1922 the daughter of the late Joseph and the late Rose (Paquin) Charest. Mrs. Shanahan graduated from Lowell High School in the class of 1940.
She was employed by the Raytheon Company where she worked as an assembler for 25 years until her retirement.
Mrs. Shanahan was a drummer in the former St. Rita's Cadets in Lowell. She also enjoyed knitting and camping.
She is survived by two sons, James Shanahan of Dracut and Paul Shanahan and his wife Donna of Pelham, NH; her daughter, Mary Boucher of Hudson, NH; her sister, Rita McInerney and her husband James of Lowell; two grandchildren, Bethany Boucher and Jonathan Boucher; many nephews and nieces.
She was also the mother-in-law of the late Robert Boucher and the sister of the late Victor "Peter" Charest, the late Raymond Charest, the late Maurice Charest, the late Lucille Furiga and the late FLorence Sullers.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Her funeral will be held on Friday, from the funeral home at 9:30 AM followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in Ste. Marguerite D'Youville Parish at Ste. Therese Church in Dracut. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell.
