Mary H. (McLean) Carpluk a longtime resident of Newton Centre died on Tuesday, July 17th at her daughter’s home in Franklin. She was 80 years old. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Minnie (Lumbre) and Wellington W. McLean. Mary grew up in Roxbury and was a graduate of Boston Public Schools. Mary attended UMass Boston in the late 1980’s. A longtime active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Newton Centre, Mary was a Past President and member for over 50 years of the St. Francis Guild. Mrs. Carpluk was a tireless volunteer at the Thrift Shop at Newton Wellesley Hospital for many years. She received an award from the hospital for her volunteer efforts. Carpluk, BPD, retired, she was the loving mother of Christine Dreier and her husband D. Patrick of Franklin and Elizabeth O’Neill and her husband Edward J. III, of Groton. Sister of Louis McLean of CA, Nancy Sullivan of FL, Elizabeth Amyouny of Hull and the late Wellington McLean. Cherished Grammy of Brittany Lee, Nicole Elizabeth, Lily Anne and the late Megan Rea. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Newton Centre on Friday July 20 at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Eaton and Mackay Funeral Home 465 Centre St Newton Corner on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury. In lieu of flowers donations in Mary’s name may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney St, Boston MA 02215.
