TEWKSBURY: Philip C. McNamara, age 50, a resident of North Tewksbury for over 30 years, died Monday, July 16, 2007 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, following an extended illness.
Born in Lowell on June 23, 1957, he was the son of Elizabeth P. (Emmons) McNamara of Tewksbury and Dr. Peter J. McNamara, who died March 2, 2005.
Mr. McNamara was raised in Lowell and moved to North Tewksbury in 1971.
He was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Church of West Andover.
Mr. McNamara attended St. Patrick’s School of Lowell and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1975. Following his graduation, he attended the University of Lowell.
According to his family, Mr. McNamara was an ardent New York Yankees Baseball fan.
In addition, he was an accomplished skier, tennis, chess and card player.
Besides his mother, he is survived by two brothers, Attorney Peter J. McNamara , Jr. of Pelham, NH and Brian J. McNamara of Lowell; one sister, Kathleen A. McNamara of Tewksbury; his niece, Elizabeth E. McNamara of Pelham, NH; several cousins, including the Hopkins and Partridge families; his lifelong friend; Kevin Keane of Lowell.
Mr. McNamara was the brother-in-law of the late Teresa (Mangin) McNamara, who died December 22, 2002.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 19th, from 4-7 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Friday, July 20th, at 10 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggett’s Pond Rd., Andover. Interment at St. Patrick Cemetery, Lowell. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Philip’s memory to the Massachusetts General Hospital, c/o Development Office, 165 Cambridge St., # 600, Boston, MA 02114 are suggested.
