Obituary

Lena E. Mercure, 97, of Salem, NH, died Monday, July 16, 2007 in the Haven Health Center in Derry, NH. Mrs. Mercure was born in Chester, NH on May 7, 1910, a daughter of the late Joseph and Delia (Blanchard) Levesque, and raised in Derry. She lived on Millville St. in Salem for 25 + years, until moving in with her son Edmond in 1992. Mrs. Mercure had been employed by Rockingham Park in Salem and by the Klev-Bro Shoe Co. in Derry as a fancy stitcher. She had been a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry and St. Matthew's Church in Windham, NH. Mrs. Mercure loved to knit and crochet and was a talented seamstress.
She is survived by her son, Edmond Mercure of Salem; her daughter, Constance Violette of Manchester, NH; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Mercure who died June 28, 1991, and by a son, Roland P. Mercure who died December 31, 2004.
Calling hours were held on Friday, July 20th from 6 - 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday at 10:00am in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry.Burial followed in Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry.
