Obituary

Frederick T. Boyle 78, of Franklin, died peacefully at his home on Sunday July 15, 2007, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Yolanda T. (Gazzola) Boyle.
Born in Boston, February 14, 1929 a son of the late Fred T. and Louise A. (Gainard) Boyle, he lived in Franklin for more than 58 years.
He was raised and educated in Boston, and until his retirement several years ago, worked for more than 30 years for the Franklin Public Schools, as a custodian. He also worked for several years as an automobile courier for the former Patalano Ford Dealership in Franklin.
He joined the US Navy in the closing days of World War II. He attained the rank of Fireman 2nd class, and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He served aboard the USS Valley Forge (CV-45), and was honorably discharged on May 13, 1948.
He was a Civil War and US Naval history enthusiast. He enjoyed Big Band Music, and was a member of Valley Forge “Happy Valley” Reunion Club, and the USS Gainard Assoc. (DD 706), a naval vessel named in honor of a member of his mother’s family. He also was a member of the Franklin Senior Citizens, and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 58 years is a son Fredrick “Ted” Boyle of South Yarmouth, and 3 nieces Linda Boynton and her husband Tom of Wrentham, Cindy Kalil and her husband Mike of Franklin and Kim Choqurtte and her husband Bob of Franklin.
He was also the brother of the late Ruth McGreevy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Thursday July 19, 2007 at 9:00AM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. (www.franklinfuneral.com) Interment will follow with full military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
Calling hours are Wednesday July 18, 2007 from 5-8PM at the funeral home.
