Peabody: Alice M. (Terry) Gonyea age 81 of Peabody, died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the Beverly Hospital following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Roland G. Gonyea.
Born in Peabody and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (O’Brien) Terry. Married in 1946, Alice devoted the early years of her marriage to raising her family. In the early 1960’s she began working for the Parker Brothers Game Co. of Salem, and retired from the company in the late 1970’s.
Alice loved spending time with her family and her extended family. She also loved music, dancing and card playing with her family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Darrell J. Gonyea and his wife Michelle of Rowley, a daughter, Brenda L. Carafa and her husband James of Peabody, 3 sisters: Elizabeth Pacelko of Pico Riviera, CA, Nancy Belisie of Saxton River, VT, Carol Cudmore and her husband Tom of Salem, a brother, John Terry and his wife Alice of Salem, 7 grandchildren: Amy & Kimberly Carafa both of Peabody, Heath Carafa and his wife Kimberly of Peabody, Sarah Gonyea of Boston, Adam Gonyea of Peabody, Elisabeth Gonyea of Rowley, Audrey Gonyea of Beverly. She is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren: Hannah Carafa and Emily Gonyea and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward Terry.
Her funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 11 am in the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem. Visiting hours: Tuesday 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Kirk Gallagher Foundation, Area 34, Boston Children's Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115 or the Beverly Hospital or the charity of your choice.
